Biological water filtration without algae bloom & filter changes
How Aquascape Ecosystem purifies water naturally without chemicals. The nitrogen cycle, biological filtration and mechanical cleaning work around the clock for crystal-clear water.
The nitrogen cycle — Nature's own water purification
Organic material like leaves and fish waste is broken down into ammonia by bacteria. Nitrosomonas bacteria convert ammonia to nitrite. Nitrobacter bacteria convert nitrite to nitrate. Aquatic plants absorb nitrate as nutrition. The result: clean water without chemicals.
Eight filtration mechanisms
BioFalls — Biological waterfall
Filter media provides surface area for beneficial bacteria that break down ammonia and nitrite.
Wetland Filter
A shallow area planted with aquatic plants that absorb nutrients and filter water biologically.
Skimmer
Mechanical filtration that captures surface debris before it sinks to the bottom.
Intake Bay
Lowers surface water and sends it to the filtration system.
IonGen
Copper and silver ionisation that controls algae growth without chemicals.
Streams and waterfalls
Oxygenate the water through turbulence and gas exchange at the surface.
Automatic bacterial dosing
SAB system that doses beneficial bacteria regularly to maintain biological balance.
Establishment timeline
Week 1–8: The ecosystem establishes itself. Some algae presence is normal.
Year 1: Biological balance is achieved. Water clears progressively.
Year 2+: Self-cleansing phase. Minimal maintenance required.
Three system configurations
- Nature Pool — Full filtration with Wetland Filter, streams and waterfalls for swimming water.
- Garden Pond — BioFalls, Skimmer and aquatic plants for a living pond with fish.
- Stream (Pondless) — Underground reservoir with recirculating water through a stream bed.
