The natural "fountain" that cleans itself
In all fountains, algae and limescale build up over time. But in Aquascape's Pondless System™ there is no open water surface or pond to take care of. On top of that, four built-in mechanisms counteract build-up.
How an Aquascape Pondless System™ works
- Underground cooling (underground reservoir) — Water is stored underground, protected from sun and heating. Warm water rises while cooler water is pumped out.
- Neutralisation (IonGen G2) — In the pipes, spore development and algae photosynthesis are inhibited with copper ions. The same ionisation principle used for water purification in space.
- Strategic planting (plant zones) — Plants are placed along the streambed to absorb phosphorus and nitrate. The more they thrive, the less nutrition is left for filamentous algae.
- Enrichment (Autodoser) — The system is automatically topped up with a special blend that counters filamentous algae, limescale and cloudiness.
Your role in the ecosystem
Unlike a regular fountain, an Aquascape Pondless System™ needs almost no oversight. Ongoing: remove leaves at the drain, top up the autodoser as needed. Seasonal: rinse off any algae (early spring).

Rainwater harvesting = combine utility with enjoyment
An optional Rainwater Harvesting System captures rain from roof and paved surfaces and stores it in an underground reservoir. The rainwater becomes part of the cycle and can be used for automatic top-up, irrigation and emergencies.

- Initial call — You tell us about your dream. We look at photos of your plot to see what's possible within your budget.
- Site visit — We come out and assess the conditions on site. Afterwards you receive a quote.
- Design — As soon as you approve the quote, your dream is translated into reality. We listen and refine until everything feels right.
- Construction — We coordinate everything from ordering, excavation, construction, planting and electrics. Everything is included.
- Handover — We walk you through everything and give you our direct number to call if you have any questions at all.
- Follow-up — After a couple of months we return to check that everything is working as it should. Any necessary adjustments are covered by our warranty.

Do you need a pond for the stream?
No. Aquascape Pondless System™ is standalone — water circulates in a hidden stream chamber beneath the stones. No open water surface, no responsibility for fish, and no algae-bloom worries.
What is an Aquascape Pondless System™?
A closed water circuit without an open pond. Water is pumped up to a waterfall, flows along the stream and gathers in a hidden chamber beneath the stones — then starts over. Maintenance-free, child-safe and naturally beautiful.
How do you maintain a stream?
Minimal maintenance: rinse pumps once a year and clear any leaves at the pump intake. No chemicals, no water tests. The system largely takes care of itself.
Does the stream work in winter?
Yes. Aquascape Pondless System™ can run all winter with lower electricity consumption. If you want to pause, simply turn off the pump — the system isn't damaged by freezing.
Can you have lighting in the stream?
Yes, LED lighting is included in most of our stream packages and delivers a stunning evening effect. We size the lighting to complement the natural stonework.
